About Us

Who We Are

Gateway Bible Chapel is a fellowship of Christians. We are… Christians! The foundation of our fellowship is a common personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We have no denominational affiliation, but maintain contact with hundreds of similar groups throughout the world.

We seek to meet simply around the person of Jesus Christ, who is the Head of the church, and our greatest desire is to honor and please Him as individuals, families, and as a church.

We believe the Bible is the Word of God, and God’s primary means of revealing Himself to man. We are committed to understanding and obeying its teachings, and to faithfully teach and proclaim its message to others.

We gather regularly for Bible teaching, fellowship, worship, and prayer. We also seek to follow Jesus’ command to go into all the world, preaching the good news of God’s salvation, and making disciples. We do this through personal evangelism, home Bible studies, and foreign missions.

Gateway Bible Chapel is led by a team of pastor elders, who are responsible for the teaching and pastoral care of the church. Please feel free to call us or contact us with any questions or concerns. We’d love to hear from you!

Why We Are Here

  • To provide opportunity to offer collective worship to God.

  • To maintain a corporate testimony to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to the oneness of His Body, the Church.

  • To provide opportunity for consistent teaching of the Bible, fellowship, collective prayer, and practicing of the ordinances of baptism, and the Lord’s supper.

  • To encourage evangelism through the local church and foreign missions.

  • To provide a spiritual atmosphere for mutual love, care, encouragement and growth for each of our members.

  • To equip men and women to fully develop their spiritual gifts and provide opportunities to excercise these gifts in the church.

Our Mission

Jesus came into this world to save sinners by dying on the cross for their sins. He was buried, and rose again on the third day. After His resurrection He was seen by many over the course of forty days, and then ascended to heaven. Just before He returned to heaven, He gave this commission to His disciples:

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18,19)

Fulfilling this "Great Commission" involves reaching a lost world with the saving message of the gospel of the grace of God. Those who come to faith in Christ are to be baptized, and to be faithfully taught to learn the Bible and obey its teachings.

From this commission we derive our mission: Reaching the lost... teaching the saved.

REACHING THE LOST, TEACHING THE SAVED

Our History

In 1996, a small group of Christians began to meet together as a church. The decision to begin this gathering was the result of a two year Bible study of the New Testament church, and much prayer. As we prayed, sought godly counsel, and waited, circumstances began to unfold in such a way that led us to believe that God was indeed leading us to begin to assemble together as a church. When two families with similar church backgrounds and experience moved to the community desiring to be a part of this fellowship, the decision to begin meeting as a church was made.

We began to gather in a home in Fulton, Illinois. After some months, as our numbers increased, we moved into a school building in Fulton. On June 9th, 1997, this group incorporated as Gateway Bible Chapel.

In April of 2013, we purchased a church building that had been vacant for some years in Clinton, located at 2416 Stockwell Lane West. This is our present location.
